BLACK FAMILY INITIATIVE

Our Mission

To strengthen the family in all areas of relationships, such as marital, parental and spousal involvement and in family issues such as decision-making, parenting, substance abuse, education, and juvenile delinquency prevention.

Social Services

Black Family Initiative serves as a resource to single parents and low income families needing human and social services across the Baton Rouge area.

Health Disparities & Education

Black Family Initiative has partner with the Department of Heath and Human Services to provide health education and various resource to communities tin the north eastern and south eastern parts of the state of Louisiana.

Community Outreach

Black Family Initiative in partnership with the faith-based community leader across Baton Rouge to provide services to marginalize communities and family experiencing economic hardship.

Building the foundation to success for students

In collaboration with AKCCL, BFI churches, Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation, Brown and Root Electrical Company, and ABC ECCR will provide per-employment skills training on motivation, cognitive skills development, Financial Literacy, Abstinence from drugs and Alcohol, and Workforce Development skills in Management, Communication, Supervision, attendance, timeliness, and dress codes.

Across Baton Rouge 80% of African American homes are without fathers and run by single mother, grandmother, etc. To strengthen the family in all areas of relationships, such as marital,

parental and spousal involvement and in family issues such as decision-making, parenting, substance abuse, education, and juvenile delinquency prevention, BFI Community Outreach is focused on the wellness of families, assist the poor and distressed, and combat community deterioration, blighted properties, crime, drug use, and other social problems.
