Sceptre Foundation

Sceptre Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit public charity corporation organized in February 2001 in East Baton Rouge parish. Sceptre started with the primary purpose of addressing the needs of the black family in the northern part of East Baton Rouge Parish.

The overall goal is to improve the life of communities and families by delivering services to educate parents and children concerning fair housing, childcare assistance, job training, and education services. The population has been needy and single-parent families. The purpose is to assist those living in poverty with support services. The foundation is housed at New Beginning Baptist Church.

a. Sceptre Inc., BFI intervention for at-risk juveniles began in September 2011 with the Office of Juvenile Justice grant funding and continues until June 30, 2014, during the state's budget cuts. Since that time (BFI) has continued with grant funding from the Wilson Foundation of Baton Rouge. The program has provided more than five – thousand home-based sessions for at-risk children and youth. After extensive research on the black family, Sceptre created Intervention Therapy (IT) to answer the high number of black youths dropping out of school and entering into delinquency.

b. During the COVID pandemic, Sceptre provided early childhood education and fed 4,700 families through Baton Rouge Food Bank, Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, and the Capital Area United Way – ALICE project. Through funding from the foundation and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Sceptre provided behavioral health counseling for families and children.

In collaboration with A Kingdom Connection Changing Lives we provide for education, training, and employment placement for at risk youths and young adults.

Furthermore, we have additional partnerships with Brown & Roots, the Wilson Foundation, and the city of Baton Rouge.
